I will always be a noob but I just wanted to other people know that if you use this tool even if you remove the ei.cfg file from the .iso, MS Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool will automatically reinsert it and will only install Ultimate. I thought my image was corrupt. It wasn't until I looked on the USB and saw that the ei.cfg file back on it.<--took too long to figure that out.
It shouldn't have added it back on. If you removed it from the iso from a program such as UltraISO, PowerISO etc and saved the modified iso, you should be set. All what the USB/DVD Download tool is is a burning program and that it.
i agree with anarchist9027. check the file you used to remove ei.cfg you can use ei.cfg removal utility (eicfg_removal_utility 2012), then your're done... unless you clicked the tool twice which would restore the deleted ei.cfg to the iso file. if you want to remove the ei.cfg manually, you can extract your iso file to a folder of your choice, delete the ei.cfg manually, and burn the file as a bootable dvd using the free imageburn utility. there is a tutorial somewhere in the forum on how to make a bootable windows 7/8 dvd...
The ei.cfg removal utility only hides the ei.cfg on a CD, because it modifies the index on an ISO-Image in almost no time. But this will only work on a CD. If you copy the contest of the ISO to an USB-Stick, it will copy everything, like the ei.cfg, which ist still there. But that is no problem, because on an USB-Stick you can easily remove the ei.cfg by hand.
That's what I did when I found it back on there. I also used the tool again and I double checked the image. NO ei.cfg, used the tool and searched the drive and it was back on there. Weird.
I can confirm the same situation as described below Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool is restoring the ei.cfg. I will use isotousb with no problem.
