I decided to switch AntiVirus programs, I don't know how you guys feel about MSE but I do want to try it. I am currently using RemoveWAT and I think that's why it's not validating Windows when I try to install it. Is there a fix for this? Assuming Daz's Loader works, can I just install it over whatever RemoveWAT does? Thanks for any info.
im not sure what other people have to say but i use NOD 32 AntiVirus good stuff they update there Virus definitions every day never got a virus when using it yet and ive been using it for a few years
Remove WAT should have a reversal to pre-messed condition. You will have problems with whatever cracktivator you use...eventually
I was using MSE on all my computers here for abit and wasn't really impressed.. mainly on computers others in my household use which aren't really computer literate.. i noticed them being able to download viruses and whatnot without being detected, i mean it seemed like you actually had to right click and scan the file manually or run a system scan to detect anything plus alot of the other av apps include extra scanning modules so i ended up installing avast instead.. the new v5 is pretty impressive plus i like the silent mode. MSE is really only good for people that are computer literate considering there is so many different ways to get viruses nowadays.
i have used both mse and nod32(not at the same time) and i find nod better and safer, because nod picked up things mse missed and also with mse you have to mess around in the registry to make it update more regular than the set 24hr update and to stop it sending info to m$. having said that mse is nice and light on your system resources, but i would not trust it if you download alot of exe files.
How do you reverse what removeWAT does? Also, MSE is probably just what I need since I just need some light protection.
I've been using MSE together with Eset Security Suite for some time no without any conflict. Each different antivirus program is somewhat better than another one at detecting a partiular malware but the most important thing is how well the antivirus program is able to remove the baddies. Detection and removal go hand in hand. How well is your protection at completely removing the detected malware?
+ 1 yep.. i have been using Kaspersky Internet Security for years .. i absolutely love it .. i have used Norton, McAfee, NOD32, AVG, and AVAST.. and was not impressed at all .. everyone has their opinions and preference.. but I know KIS 2010 like the back of my hand and can usually tell if it's a false positive or true malware.. i can customize the settings to suit my needs which is filled with constant Warez, Cracks, Keygens, code intrusion, etc .. Since i have started using KIS 2010 .. i have never had a Malware problem..
I will also recommend Kaspersky Internet Security 2010. It is one of the best security suite. If you simply want antivirus, then use Kaspersky Antivirus 2010. Don't forget to use some good firewall or least enable windows firewall. My second recommendation will be VIPRE Antivirus 4. It is also very good at detections and remediation, but not as strong as Kaspersky (due to lack of self defense and new in the market).
I have Kaspersky 2010, it's fine! Tried Norton 2010 (60 day trial - came free with new mobo), it gives loads of false positives, it flagged some program cracks & slic dump toolkit as being trojans, then it automatically deleted them without giving any option not to!
MSE is the best Antivirus for Windows 7. I have been using it for a few months and have never had a problems with malware. It can be easily installed if your system is activated using Daz's Loader.
Okay, now my problem is I cannot Restore WAT. Whenever I try RemoveWAT, the only option available is always RemoveWAT.
+1 I use MSE, and Comodo Firewall Free, and they work great togheter without taking too much resources, Microsoft is simply AWESOME! for making that antivirus suite FREE.
MSE is the best FREE antivirus. When it comes to paid I would suggest Kaspersky. MSE is the only free version that isn't trying to sell you a full version and it has the financial backing to be a really good product but if you are using hacktivators it may not be for you. Loaders and mods will probably see better results for the time being.
MSE seems to be good although I doubt it is the best free antivirus because it seems so basic. Even Avast free seems more advanced then MSE. Just my opinion. I use NIS 2010 on win7 and I really do not have any issues. Yes it does detect a lot of false possitives but any file it removes can easily be restored using the history option. BTW stonedagain I never had NIS detect false possitive trojans. Are you referring to the Sonar detection? That is what picks up a lot of false possitives.
It isn't about bells and whisltles. Does is scan, does it provide realtime protection, does it have frequent and adequate updates. What kills antivirus programs is the lack of updates or the speed of which they identify threats. That is why I prefer MSE. All of that said, it depends on the user. Some people never get a virus, some people can't avoid them (or won't) based on browsing habits.
That is true but some programs with extra features may protect you from a certain range of threat that others do not. For example, KIS 2010 seeems to detect a lot of java based exploits but NIS 2010 does not. Same thing goes for MSE.
