I volunteer for a small Non Profit Organization and someone just donated a fairly decent computer to them (Powerspec 5500 - 2G memory, 1.8 MHz).
I installed the Windows 7 Beta version on it with no problem.
The computer has 6 USB ports - and here is the problem. Every flashdrive, external HD, (even a Zipdrive) gives me the same error message:
There is a problem with this device, please remove.....etc.
Strangely enough, it accepts the mouse and keyboard. The keyboard has 2 built-in USB ports, and they will accept the flash drives but then I get the message that "this device will perform faster in a USB 2 port".
The keyboard is USB2, but seems to act as a USB 1 hub.
Where do I need to start trouble shooting?

Try in the bios to make sure its enabled correctly and usb legacy is also enabled,it will be possibly in advanced settings.
make sure it says enabled and not on auto, dont forget to save settings.

Been there, done that. In Windows hardware profile the USB ports show up as available and working correctly.

Sounds like a multimedia keyboard with multi functions so its probably a driver issue or maybe the keyboard was added later or a old spare.
    Could even be motherboard fault.
Try a normal keyboard ps2 if poss and see if errors are still there.
