Sorry if this has been discussed before but according to RW-Everything my bios doesn't have slic. I have a gateway 700gr computer.

If I use a loader with the windows 7 copy I got off a torrent will it be able to activate windows with no problems like a 30 day trial showing up after install etc?

might be a dumb question but i just want to make sure before I install windows 7 on my computer.

There are loads of instructions on this site for modding non-SLIC BIOS, in particular for Vista. The same procedures also work for Win 7, you just need to inject a SLIC 2.1 table in, rather than a SLIC 2.0. I managed to add a SLIC table into my 3yr old MSI Platinum mobo for Vista and have recently "upgraded" it for Windows 7. My MSI currently "thinks" that it is a Dell ;-)

Since it's a desktop machine it's likely to have an Award or AMI BIOS, both of which can be easily modded with an SLIC 2.1 table. Much better route than a loader, IMO. Check out the stickied guides in the BIOS Mods forum for more info.
