My dvd drive disappeared.

    My DVD drive disappeared.
    its not stolen or anything..:p
    but i cant seem to find it.

    it only shows up in the Device Manager.
    but not in the explorer.

    using build 7989 BTW.

    Dude...seriously? insert a disc and see it appear again :D
    Empty drives are hidden from explorer automatically for quite some time now

    haha!! that did totally not work.

    yea even when i have a disc in it

    UPDATE::
    im so blind.. lol

    is also have a SAMSUNG hard drive.
    it's not findable anyware in windows..

    Have you tried to install the DVD driver manually?

    Microsoft has a FIXIT program that makes a couple of changes to registry that fixes it.

    If you have a laptop, try to remove the battery and shutdown the windows, and remove the sector cable,
    then try to boot again and again untill the bios recognize your dvd drive.

    Bump?I'm loving Win8, but my drive isn't showing up at all. Nothing in Explorer (with disk in) and nothing in Device Manager. There is this odd device in IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers, "[bu3fi][ĮÐË Çнάňлéł !!]" Drive is picked up fine in the BIOS, just not in Windows.I also can't activate it, but I'll worry about that later :pI'm running 7955 since there aren't any newer x86 leaks. Hint hint to anyone important ;)Cheers bros.
