Hi all. I have just been helping a member out making an XP OEM disc. I have been testing the XP OEMBIOS Tool out on my two machines. An Asus P8H61-MX - My test rig and my main machine Asus Sabertooth Z77. I have done my own BIOS mods for both these boards adding Asus SLP + SLIC2.1 to the P8H61-MX and only Asus SLIC 2.1 to the Sabertooth. When I tested the XP OEMBIOS tool on the test rig, no surprise there was the SLP info. but testing it on my Sabertooth I found "Hitachi" info. Now where on earth would that info have come from or am I reading the results wrong. Surely its not right.. Off to test again... Any thoughts ?
Its an old paradox! It comes from the HDD. Often you can find 'GENUINE' string which comes from the Intel processor. Actually the valid range of those SLP strings is very broad (F000,0000,FFFF) so other available strings often counted as valid.
