So I installed Windows 8.1 on my Alienware 18 laptop and using the latest drivers from DELL

I installed the Realtek RTS5209 Card Reader Driver 6.2.9200.28144

The issue is, I have a 64 GB SD Card in there, every reboot, the moment the desktop loads, I see the SD Card being installed in the taskbar it says something like "Installing Device" and if I expand it, it's my SD Card

What gives? Why is it not being installed permanently? Doesn't happen in Windows 7

I see this error in Event Log:

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\_??_PCISTOR#Disk&Ven_REALSIL&Prod_RTS5208LUN0&Rev_1.00#0000#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}.

It's an Removeable Storage Device which Windows 8 'see's' as it! Not sure maybe there's a Registry Hack for to change that. Try our all friend Google to find that!

Why not just disconnect before booting and connect again after that? It's a matter of a few seconds, if that isn't to much to you!

Yes true, but that isn't supposed to happen, if a device driver is installed, it's installed......right? shouldn't be reinstalled every reboot....

I think it's probably the drivers. Look for a newer package...
Is your bios up to date? Perhaps there's a newer bios where you can select Win8 logo, etc... Compatibility??

It's really recommended to update the BIOS to latest version available if Windows 8 or later should be used.
