Hi. I need antivirus for my server. I've tried SCEP, and i installs fine, and runs fine, untill update.. When it tries to update to 4.8 via Windows Update, nothing happends.. Downloads fine, but not installing.. instead the computer freezes.. Any suggestions to this? Or atleast a antivirus program that works? Tried the same SCEP install on a virtual server (installed from same ISO file), and there it works just fine, and updates fine
"360 Total Security" works fine on Server 2012 R2. It is produced by a Chinese company Qihoo 360. You can use it for free and if you would like, you can add BitDefender Engine to improve effectiveness. It is relatively lightweight on system but sometimes a little bit aggressive; sometimes it flags perfectly legitimate applications as dangerous. 360totalsecurity . com

I know it takes a some time.. but I have given it 15-30 minutes.. all that happends is that startmenu hangs if i click on it, if I have a window open (or just on the desktop) and I right click, the window or desktop hangs.. If I try ctrl+alt+delete and select task manager, it starts, but hangs with a blank window. I have tried a re-install of the OS, and also tried a newer ISO file. But as I said, if I install it on a virtual machine, everything works. Think it has something to do with drivers, or an application. Motherboard is ASRock H97 Anniversary, and I have installed all the needed drivers for Windows 8.1 (since they don't have drivers for 2012r2). I run Stablebit DrivePool and Scanner (I have 4x 3TB WD RED NAS drives in drivepool).
I have tried to install the file that WU downloads, and it hangs when I try that one to. But I got MSSE going right now, It worked installing it via CMD and in Windows 7 compatibility mode. I know I will get problems when next update is comming, but atleast it works for now
Avast is now free for Windows servers as well. Do give it a try. Works fine for me on Windows 12 and 8 servers.

I might try it to But.. I think I have to do some troubleshooting first.. I also tried a server version of AVG, pirated license.. I got problems uninstalling this one to So it has to be a driver or application problem on my server. Think I might try a fresh install again, and this time install AV first.. and then the drivers and apps.. Maybe I can find out what the problem is. Because, if I try SCEP on a virtual server, on that physical server, it works fine, it updates to new version, and I can uninstall it without problems. It's only the physical server that gets f***ed up..
Ok.. A little update here now.. Tried a fresh install, no driver or programs. Installed SCEP, tried windows update, it worked! Tried uninstalling it, and that worked to! Then.. I installed StableBit DrivePool, rebooted, installed SCEP, tried update.. it f***s up again.. Had to hit the reset button, uninstalled DrivePool again, rebooted, installed SCEP again, tried update.. it worked! So.. There has to be a compatibility problem between Windows Server 2012 R2, StableBit DrivePool and antivirus programs.. Have contacted StableBit about this, and waiting for an answear
StableBit made a beta version for me. It was a problem between their Disk driver, and the SCEP scanner. The beta worked just fine Got it a couple a weeks back, but they have not released it yet.
