I've followed the guides here and tried many times to get this to work over the last 2 months, but somewhere along the way I screw up everytime. I'm trying to activate vista business on my acer laptop and make an oem dvd. I have slic 2.1 bios. Everytime I try to activate vista it tells me that the key is invalid for activation. My laptop originally came with windows 7 home premium, but I hate it and need to go back to vista. I own a copy of vista, but like a fool I paid for the ultimate upgrade *facepalm* and it runs very slow on this laptop. It also causes it to get very hot. The business version is the only one that functions properly on my laptop. Can someone help me activate vista business on my laptop?
I just checked it and it says that the key that I have for vista business is vallid so I'm messing up somewhere.
Thanks for the key. That's a different one than I was using. BTW.......What's a 2.1 Certificate? That may be my other problem. Do I need that to make an OEM DVD? FYI: It's adrian2055. I had to make a new account because I can't login to my other one even after changing the password several times. It always tells me it's wrong.
Thomas! post above is pointing you in the right direction. Install Vista and choose the Business Edition, unchecking "activate when online" and do not apply a license key. Next, get that Daz Loader and your problems will be solved. I'm unsure if the OEM media will allow you to get around this, so worst case, you may have to download the retail .iso
I had the retail iso, but it worked with the OEM version too. It's activated. Thanks to everyone for your help.
