    hello,i have an hp pavilion p257tx and i would like advice how to access hidden advanced settings to its bios.

    -Manufacturer:hp p257tx
    -Bios revision:f.43 rev. A
    -Bios Type:Insyde
    -Bios Download Link: BIOS Mods-> BIOS Mod Requests.Post Requests Only->Insyde bios mod requests.->page 1975

    i have done some preliminary work but since i am new to to bios mod i could use some pointers.

    my bios dump and tools results: BIOS Mods-> BIOS Mod Requests.Post Requests Only->Insyde bios mod requests.->page 1975
    i can not post links due to post limit.

    This is my secondary laptop and i'd like more freedom to tinker with its settings.

    I followed this procedure from another site
    1.Get your bios image (dump/download/extract from wherever you want)
    2.Open it with Phoenix Mod Tool (if image is not signed UEFITool should work too)
    3.Find SetupUtility module in Structures
    4.Extract it decompressed
    5.Open the thing in Universal IFR Extractor
    6.Extract it disassembled
    7.Open the resulting text file
    8.Look for whatever variable number you want to tinker with
    9.Boot in UEFI Shell
    10.Use setup_var command

    so i guess i have to set variable 0x76 to 0x1 from 0x0 for my bios
    0x62822 Setting: Normal Boot Menu, Variable: 0x76 {05 91 90 01 91 01 5B 10 34 12 76 00 04 10 00 01 00}
    0x62833 Option: Normal, Value: 0x0 (default) {09 07 8B 01 10 00 00}
    0x6283A Option: Advance, Value: 0x1 {09 07 8A 01 00 00 01}
    0x62841 End of Options {29 02}

    Has anyone tried this procedure before with success and do you think is very risky;
    can you look at my files and tell me if this procedure will work for my laptop and if not can you recommend another;
    i have posted bios dump and results to my other post because i can not use links yet.
