I got a bunch of really old computers from my uncle. I have two dell dimensions (2400 and 2350) and they were virus infected badly, so I just reinstalled XP. My uncle has since lost all the Dell documentation, as well as, disks. I download XP Home sp3 so I have fewer updates and it won't take the Dell product key. I have used these in the past with success, but not this time.

Is it SP3 with the issue? I can use my technet SP3 key without issue, but I'd rather use the Dell key. is there a trick to get it to work? Like say a non-technet disk? or non-sp3 disk?

    Thanks for any help

I don't have the Dell motherboard in it anymore. I just want to use the key to activate SP3 which seems is impossible. After searching the issue I have found that MS has new keys for SP3 and old ones won't work.

You seem to have me confused with someone else.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the confusion.

All I really need is a way to enter the key in sp3. Maybe I'll just use my old SP2 disk and upgrade. sounds easiest. Maybe 'll try vlite and create a custom sp3 slipstream disk. may try the slp oem version at a later date when I have more time.

    Thanks for the help
