hi, hope someone here can help me a bit on this...

im trying to integrate a pci add-in card bios into a phoenix 4-6 bios based computer(ibm netvista). The add-in card is a cheap sata adapter with the via vt6421 chipset... it work in windows but since the card is romless it is unseen by the bios... making it impossible to boot from a drive attached to it.

i have a pdf in wich the task is done successfully on award bios with cbrom... but things dont seems so simple with phoenix bios...

what i have acheived is this:

    - open the most recent bios for the motherboard in PBE
    - add the rom for the vt6421 in the bios (there is 2 places where i can put it... oprom or oem... i have tried oem... will try oprom)
    - rebuild the bios and flash it in the mobo

The result is that hopefully the computer still run ok... but the injected rom dont seem to be executed.

Now i suspect that i must add an entry in the pci routing table... the only doc ive found on prt is old and for non-acpi bios... even so the memory map described dont make sens when i hex-look at the extracted prt.

any experience or pieice of info related to that would be appreciated.... thanks

ok... inserting the rom in oprom actually cause it to be executed... i can acces the raid configuration utility at startup and the drive is detected... my mainboard bios still dont allow me to boot on it. Now i need to somehow insert a new entry in the startup sequence for the add-in card... for now there are some extracted rom from the bios i suspect do the job... i will try to backtrack with the on-board ethernet, wich is bootable and have its rom in the oprom section as my sata card do, to try to find how execution is redirected to the various bootable devices.

again if anyone think he can help... any info welcome...

i got it!... the sata card is not selectable in the boot menu of the mobo but will be booted on as the last resort... so it work if there is no other valid boot device.

    i can live with that...

Could you please detail the process, I'm trying to do the same but am getting a error for nvram size when i flash it,it won't work.
I had to replaced the network module with the vt6421 rom.
