Hello! I need some assistance. I bought a brand new laptop for my wife, a low-end Compaq and it came with Windows 7 Home Premium x64 bit, OEM obviously. I want to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium from a retail CD, is this possible? I want to be legit and use the OEM key, any ideas? Thanks!
Thanks! I just saved the SLIC as a .bin but I'm confused on what to do now. Do I install Windows 7 and then re-import the SLIC? I'm such a noob
You need to backup the Pkey and cert in the Advanced Tab. After you reinstall windows, you just need to install the key and certificate using the following commands Code: slmgr /ipk <your product key here> slmgr /ilc <location of certificate>
Okay, I just did that. My question is... When I reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium, how do I re-import the certificate and key?
Awesome, that makes sense to me. You guys here are insanely smart LOL - thanks for the help. I just noticed you posted the code in your 2nd post, sorry.
Ahhhh! One more question. I have a retail windows 7 ultimate CD, I remember seeing a way to install all the different versions of W7 from a single disc by modifying a file? I obviously won't be able to install Ultimate using a OEM home premium key.
I did the command to import the key and certificate, but I'm getting the following error: "A problem occurred when Windows tried to activate. Error Code 0xC004E003." Any ideas before I use RemoveWAT? MS makes it so hard to be legit.
Did you run the two commands from an elevated Command Prompt? Post a screenshot of the Advanced tab in the SLIC Toolkit.
Need more help on this! I was able to successfully import the cert and it was working great for 2+ months. I had to reimage my laptop and I'm having problems re-importing the cert. I did the slmgr -ipk license key command, and then once I do slmgr -ilc C:\mycert.xms-ms I get the following error: On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xBBA' to display the error text. Error: 0xBBa. Any ideas? Thanks.
Or, you know, he could just run the command prompt with admin priveleges, instead of disabling one of the most important advances in OS integrity in the history of windows.
