I'm not sure if this would go in the request section, but here's my dilemma. I need to disable the AHCI mode (enable IDE mode) in my BIOS, but HP chooses to lock the BIOS and make barely any options configurable. It is using an InsydeH2O BIOS (F.49). It won't let me post the link because I don't have 20 posts, but the file for the BIOS itself is called "30FCF49.fd". I found a "modded" bios of this exact version, and I installed it successfully, but it wasn't the right type of mod I guess? Because none of the new options were enabled. I knew the flash worked, however, because the few settings I had (boot order, etc) were back to their default values. Can someone please point me in the direction of how to somehow disable AHCI? Whether it be through editing the BIOS to unlock ALL of my options (which is the preferred option), or if there's some other little patch, or something else, just somehow please help me disable AHCI. If there's a custom BIOS I can install, that would be pretty neat. Any information would be much appreciated. EDIT: changed the title in case the original one was misleading (hopefully i didn't trick anyone into thinking i knew how to do it already and was posting a guide, and clarified that I need help)
yeah if someone were able to make a bios with the advanced options unhidden, that would be amazing! i took pictures of every page of the BIOS (that's visible i guess?). Any blue options (or white, which are just blue ones that are selected) are the ones that one can actually do anything with (toggle them, go into them, etc) (they're active ones), and anything grey is simply visible information (when you try to select it, the selector just jumps over it) I can't post pictures or links, so i'll write them with hxxp instead of http, and hopefully this isn't against the rules? if it is i'll gladly fix it Main: hxxp://img813.imageshack.us/img813/7499/mainrm.jpg Diagnostic Log:hxxp://img18.imageshack.us/img18/7453/diagnosticlog.jpg Security: hxxp://img535.imageshack.us/img535/4035/securityil.jpg Diagnostics: hxxp://img821.imageshack.us/img821/3863/diagnostics.jpg System Configuration: hxxp://img8.imageshack.us/img8/2396/systemconfiguration.jpg Boot Options:hxxp://img703.imageshack.us/img703/8198/bootoptions.jpg Boot Order:hxxp://img864.imageshack.us/img864/1904/bootorder.jpg Exit: hxxp://img508.imageshack.us/img508/8600/exitz.jpg
haha thanks for posting the pictures, good looking out anyone have any luck? or at least know some other way i can get this going? that's all i need: AHCI mode to be switched to compatibility/IDE/whatever mode, whether through a BIOS hack or if someone happens to know some backdoor way
This pictures show that POWER and ANDVANCE tabs are hidden, i will have a look in the code of setup module (FE3542FE-C1D3-4EF8-657C-8048606FF670_3_441.ROM) if i can figure out to unhidde options. note: only few people are investing lot of time in bios modding so do not expect a quick reply.
my cq45-203tx has the simular bios item with niemsad DV7's . Main: Diagnostic Log: Security: Diagnostics: System Configuration: Boot Options Boot Order: Exit: it's awesome someone could unlock the hidden item in the bios . Wish you success, TTAV134,that will be tefffic.
the mod worked and the Diagnostic tab was indeed replaced by the Advance tab, and I will take pictures right now. My only concern is, how exactly do I put it in IDE mode...? I looked through all of the new menus and I see nothing similar EDIT: Here's the pictures. ohhhhhh ok my mistake, i thought you were under the assumption that what you modded enabled it right away, i didn't know you were still mid-testing, that makes sense, i meant no offense well i wish you luck again, and thanks so much for doing this for me, and just let me know when you want me to test something. i do have a working backup on my USB which I have tested using my laptop's recovery, so there's no risk of bricking my laptop as far as i know, so feel free to just keep throwing stuff at me. thanks!
hello, some good news, i guess i've figured out to unhide options: EFI Opcode 0x27 means TRUE, so i've replace it by FALSE (opcode 0X28) Code: Grayout If FALSE One Of [0x36<1>] 'IDE Controller' \Help text: 'DISABLED: disables both the PATA & SATA IDE controllers. BOTH: enables both the PATA & SATA IDE controllers.' Option 'Disabled' = 0x0 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0 Option 'Enabled' = 0x1 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0 End One Of End If Grayout If FALSE One Of [0x39<1>] 'SATA Native Support' \Help text: 'Enabling SATA Native Support will improve the HDD performance. Disabling SATA Native Support may be necessary when a legacy OS is used.' Option 'Enable' = 0x1 Flags 0x1 Key 0x0 Option 'Disable' = 0x0 Flags 0x0 Key 0x0 End One Of End If let me know if "IDE Controller" and "SATA Native Support" options are visible in "System Configuration" menu, if yes i will upload a definitive bios mod with all options unlocked.. regards
Sweet, it did indeed add those two options! I would test to see if they work now with what I'm trying to use the IDE mode with, but I'm at school and my hardware is at home. However, I did notice that, when booting into Windows 7 after disabling SATA Native Support, my computer "Found New Hardware" (ATA Channel 0, ATA Channel 1, Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller, WDC WD3200BEVT-75ZCT2 ATA Device, and TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633L ATA Device), so I'm assuming it worked correctly. Here's the picture of the modded System Configuration page: hxxp://img576.imageshack.us/img576/2128/systemconfigurationmod.jpg Even at this point, I think i'm perfectly set but if you could release a completely unlocked bios mod, that would be even better and much appreciated!
i'll try it out right now, thank you SO MUCH!!!!!!!! you're amazing :') ahahaha thanks! EDIT: just tried it out, worked 100% perfectly, with all options unhidden!!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would like to link my bios graph to this post, obviously my cq45-203tx is totally different from niemsad's DV7,maybe the hidden menus different either. So if it's possible ,helps to mod my bios (whitelist removed and eist unlock yet)m,realize ESATA BOOT and SATA TO IDE those useful functions.thank you very much for you selfless contribution. below are some tabs in my bios. the forum rules restrict i attach superlink on this thread,so i change http with hxxp, and type some space keys, sorry for inconvinence Main hxxp://w w w.mediafire.com/i/?uv24bjyobv8sf9l diagnostics hxxp://w w w.mediafire.com/i/?5koscq5kwf2r54y system configuration hxxp://w w w.mediafire.com/i/?nk9zop8dhj64ndv sub menu of system configuration boot options hxxp://w w w.media fire.com/i/?cyond9k1c6byk57 sub menu of boot options boot order hxxp://w w w.media fire.com/i/?y5qkjn7nuinqjre
