Hello All, I'm getting a new pc in a few days, but unfortunately it comes with windows rexp which I absolutely hate. I checked the site and they provide drivers for windows 7 so my plan is to install 7 when I get it (or vista business if I can make it work). Can someone show me how to make an oem dvds for vista and seven that will activate the pc when I install the OS? This is the PC: hxxp://emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=EZ1601-01 so It should have slic 2.1 bios since it's brand new.
i don't know about that but you can use the digital river links provided then a method to bypass activation. i suggest daz loader since it works great for me.
It most likely will not have slic 2.1 new or not. Simply because it comes with XP SP3. I could be wrong though.
@mamamia88 Thanks for pointing me to the digital river links. I totally passed that thread up. It's greatly appreciated. @FattysGoneWild (Love that username LOL) I got lucky and ended up with a slic 2.1 bios. It even came with a oem vista home premium dvd dvd, but for some strange reason windows won't activate after I installed it. Ah well. Maybe it for another PC. @Melvarius Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I managed to make a windows 7 pro oem dvd from the thread. I'll try it out later on when I get vista configured. I made a vista business dvd from the oem folders and slp keys thread. Hopefully it works. Thanks for all your help everyone. I really appreciate it.
Your bios has 2.1 SLIC as ACRSYSACRPRDCT Be sure you are using the correct certs and serial...Should be no need to fool with a loader or similar "". This will not activate Vista in any way...
I would go straight to 7 then and not deal with Vista at all. Are you trying to install Vista and then do a upgrade to 7? Acer owns emachines and gateway now.
If you want to install Vista and W7 (why??) you chould change the SLIC to Toshiba...it is very compressible is the best option. I would just stick to XP and Windows 7 OEM:SLP
@911medic Sorry, but why he needs to use Toshiba if he likes Windows Vista and Windows 7 ? No need for that... just make sure the bios utilizes ACER 2.1 SLIC, then use Acer Windows 7 Certificate on both installations, each with it's own SKU matching SLP:KEY
I'm testing the 7 disc to see if it works. I'll probably put it on demonoid if it does. Since I know vista works on this pc I don't plan on using 7 as (brace yourself) I actually like vista. It my prefered choice.....I'll give you a minute to compose yourself......ok moment over LOL! I can't stand the changes to the user interface in 7 and half of my programs won't work and there's no way in hell I'll ever go back to xp. I'll use 3.1 before I'll use xp.
Glad to hear you managed to make your disk btw. But errrmmm Vissssta? Looking at the specs of your machine (1.6Ghz Atom and 1Gb ram) I can't help but think Vista might be a little sluggish (being a bit of a resource hog) I've never had any problems running old software on Win7. Can't say the same about Vista though. In fact, stuff that wouldn't run on Vista runs on Win7 without even having to resort to XPMode. As for the user interface. i feel it's an improvement over Vista and when I find myself using an older OS I miss some of Win7's UI features.
Maybe I'm just comfortable on vista. I Do hate the taskbar preview window on 7, but I may have to get used to it until I figure out how to remove the case to upgrade the ram. Vista is kinda sluggish on this pc and I can't get it to activate. I own the retail upgrade version, but it's ultimate so I didn't even bother installing it. Which version of 7 do you recommend? I was using home premium and nothing worked for me.

If you look on emachines support pages for your computer you'll notice that they don't support Vista. Have fun hunting down drivers if you need them. My best guess is that the O.E.M. disk you got with the computer has an old 2.0 certificate on it. This wont match up with the 2.1 slic in the bios hence, no offline activation. Try installing a matching emachines 2.1 certificate using the slmgr command from the command prompt. Put your certificate in the root directory of your C drive. Then run command prompt (found in the accessories folder in the start menu/all programs) as administrator and type in "cd .." minus the quotes until the command line shows C:\> . Type in slmgr /ilc <license file name> to install the certificate. Assuming the O.E.M. product key has already been installed that should do the trick.
Thanks for the tip. That worked perfectly. As for the drivers I just used the win7 drivers and everything worked.
i am running a emachine et1161-05 came with vista. i loaded windows 7 then used daz loader with dells ultimate key. that was last July...haven't had a issue yet. and i update all the time.
