I am currently new to the community and was wondering anyone could help me on a step by step basis and links about installing Win7 Ultimate on my Self Built PC:

    1) I do not have SLIC 2.1 on my BIOS
    2) I am currently running on WinXP SP3
    3) I do not have Win7 image file

I hope someone would guide me about installing Win7 onto this machine.

    OS:Microsoft Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 3 /x86
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. Version: V17.9 Type: AMI BIOS /ACPI 1.0

"This method has been working for Windows Vista for more than 3 years (and counting) and has proven its reliability and efficiency."

I came across this quote and i was thinking if it will still work as i got a WinXP SP3 running currently..

Are you saying you want to dual boot. Yes you can. And Daz loader will work fine to activate 7

I want a fresh copy of Win7 on my PC...
cos currently, my HDD is dying off with some scratching sound..
I am going to replace it later and install a new copy of windows in my new HDD.

What i meant earlier was, do i need a copy of vista in order for the tuturtial to work for me?

I went from XP to win 7 on my desktop PC with own-build hardware. Non-OEM desktop PCs perhaps have the easiest install process (not that it is any difficult on an OEM). I had original XP till Jan 2010. Formatted and installed win 7. Takes 20-25 mins for install, and another 5 mins for activation. Regarding your scratching sound, get a new HDD and install win 7 there. If you do not want to buy it now, install win 7 on old HDD as a practice and trial session. 1-2 installs and you can do it with your eyes shut.

PS: can use daz loader and no need to then mod your BIOS. Just install win 7, click on daz loader, let it restart (click OK to restart with prompted) and get on. Piece of cake. Better to not install KB971033 update. I do not even though people here have found no problems with kb..+daz.
