Hello everyone. I an fascinated by the idea of fixing my BIOS after an unsuccessful flash so I am looking for a suitable programmer and software to program the BIOS chips of my motherboards (ASUS P8Z68-v pro and Maximus 4 EXtreme-z). I have done a little bit of research and I know that my BIOS chips are DIP-8. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me a few directions as to where to look for hardware -ideally in the UK- or eBay or online shop etc., and for software. Some guidance would be much appreciated too! Thanks in advance!
Unless I have completely missed out something this whole business of Asus USB CrashFree option of my p8z68-v pro mobo is pointless, if your Bios/PC doesn't even post, as it requires you to 'enter' the BIOS to load the EZ Flash utility, which defeats the purpose really. On the other hand my Maximus IV extreme-z has the USB FlashBack option which does the job well without you needing to power up the mobo (only need to have it connected to the PSU). But for my P8Z68-v pro the only way, if something goes wrong, is to buy a new BIOS chip or reprogram the existing. Anyway, I bought an EEPROM Programmer off eBay, hoping that it will be able to flash my chip. Let's see...
