    hello all,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. I have downloaded a software from a warez site. virustotal shows it as safe, but my AV Bitdefender blocks it as malicious program. This .exe is a crack for a well known software. Is there any way i can verify the MD-5 or SHA for this exe? do crack exe's have different signatures? i am a noob in this area. kindly assist. thanks a lot

It's a dangerous area, so if you are inexperienced, you'd do well to keep away from it.

both pisthai and Katzenfreund are right.

1 ) MDL is not a warez forum, although the Daz loader and other programs live here.

2 ) Using cracks / patches are just like having promiscuous sex - You never know what you'll catch. ;)

Most if not all cracks / keygens are identified as malware, because they use coding techniques designed to circumvent Digital Rights Management.

The problem with that is that a virus maker / hacker can load a trojan / keylogger onto your machine because you ignored the virus warning.

We live in dangerous times, so, I suggest you be careful.

You test such file in a VM or you use Sandboxie.

Seeing that you want to install an antivirus I can advise to install a good FREE alternative to BitDefender:
    Avira Free (google it)
It plays really nice, sometimes causes some performance negative impact in some systems though.
    Worth to try it.
