I am running windows 7 and can't seem to create a bootable usb pen drive. I have tried many different options and none have worked for me. I am trying to use AWDFlash from within Dos. Can anyone give me a step by step on how to do this. Thanks.
I have tried it again and all I get is a black screen and I am not able to type anything. I left it there for a few minuets and still nothing.
How did you update it? The bios that is. I have been looking everywhere for this Dimension C521 mod and have failed miserably. The only url I can find is a dead urlisdown link. Do you still have the mod you used to do this?
best to make a bacukup of your bios then we mod that.. seems the 521 series uses a different not HDR method of bios so it locks up my pc when i use the tool on it. get the backup.bin or backup.rom with awdflash ? or is it phlash16 ? or use 7-zip on the DMC521-010111.exe to extract A17AS.BIN (which i dont think is complete)
For once I found the SLIC mod already done. The USB DOS stick worked as advertised, and for the umpteenth time, NO BRICK! Works every time for me. I usually do it myself, but his time was a bit weird, as noted in a previous reply about the HDR extract. AWESOME POSSUM! WTG! KUDOS! YOU GUYS ROCK! I just have to know, did you use the DOS flash utility to extract the original BIOS to use Andy's tool on, or was there something I missed? I mean, I backed up the BIOS and after running the mod I will see if I get the same result (fc/b example1.bin example2.bin), but now I have to get the box back to it's owner. SWEET!!!
