Hi all I would like someone to help me with proper office 2013 professional plus activation procedures on windows 8.1 pro, as the one given on the forum does not work, but shows that the user has successfully done activation.
The proper way to activate Office 2013 Professional is to enter the 25 digit key you you when you purchased it, in the place it asks for it. Properly.
lets not forget to mention, the 25 digits are located on the back of the media purchased, cant be missed

So the VL edition was installed. Suggest you uninstall it, reinstall the retail one, and input your 25-digit key as suggested by others.
Additionally, the product key can be obtained in the following ways 1. Through VLSC 2. Retailer 3. Reseller 4. Via MSDN Subscription 5. MPN 6. BizSpark Cheers

Thanks for all your prompt replies, I was able to download a retail version by Paul Desmond and tried to activate but with no success. I still get the error : Attempting to Activate OfficeProPlusVL_KMS_Client ERROR CODE: 0xC004F074 ERROR TEXT: The Software Licensing Service reported that the product could not be activated. No Key Management Service (KMS) could be contacted. Please see the Application Event Log for additional information. <Product activation failed> Not sure what need to be done from now. BTW am using the Microsoft Toolkit 2.4.9 for activation.
The volume version I had before the retail version got activated in Windows 8 but when updated to Windows 8.1 it became deactivated showing "Activation required"
