Hello guys, I'm new to this forum and dont have that much knowledge about some stuffs like this. So here's my situation where i'm wondering if there are things that i need to consider first before i start installing windows 7 ultimate x64 to my newly built PC. I have x1 SSD and x1 HDD drives and I would like to install it in my SSD Samsung EVO 850 'coz i read that its gonna make the boot much faster than the regular drives. So for my real concern, are there some things i need to do or consider first before i go with the installation? such as situations i would probably encounter before, during or after installation? and any TIPS/thorough explanations will be very much appreciated! P.S. I can search through the web all day but it'll also gonna help me big time asking for experts' wisdom, knowledge & experience directly so i would like to say... Thanks in advance! :)

Why all these questions without really asking something? Why not just play around with windows installing and learning from it? The biggest concern is that win 7 most likely will expire at the end of 2019.

My tip, use an updated source iso, or use simplix to install the biggest part of the updates when you use an original MSDN iso.

ps, and set your bios to legacy bios or enable something like CSM to be able to install with an unmodified win 7 source, for uefi only you have to modify the installsource (7 x64 only).

Hey, sorry if my questions are not clear or specific its just that i only know some general ideas about the installation and i'm afraid that i might be forgetting something that is important.

I'll be installing the Windows 7 that Daz posted here, the stickied one, i'm not sure if that's the latest .iso with new updates tho. I'll be more thankful if you can share some links to where i can download it from. :)

P.S. I'll also be using Daz's Windows 7 Loader to activate the OS, which i'm really not knowledgeable of.

ISO's on MDL are MS originals, ms doesn't release uptodate iso's so you'll need to update the iso or the install. Win 7 lately has an WU problem, so the use of updatepacks is recommended, Simplix Updatepack is the one posted on MDL.

For Windows 7 look after Windows 7 SP1 U Media Refresh version-as it is latest official.

Install OS on SSD drive because it will be much faster, and everything else (programs, games etc.) on HD Drive.

SSD is very sensible so you must take care to prolong its lifespan. There are some useful apps to tweak SSD functions. Such apps for example are ssdfresh (Abelssoft) and tweak-ssd (Totalidea). There are also others, but these two are good because are offering auto-optimization. For example auto defrag check is not good for SSD, so these apps turn this function off, etc.

For Simplix Pack if you have any questions please ask..Download Pack, Click on it, Run, it will restart and continue installing updates...and restart again.

Thanks so much @gamazet, yes i'm going to use Simplix Pack for the latest WU. :)

P.S. I will probably ask some more questions later when i'm in the process of installing the OS but i do hope my installation goes smooth without issues so no more questions will be needed to ask. :)

Did you set the bios settings manually or never gave it a look?

Hoping/counting on you used a original MSDN 7 SP1 iso. I haven't experienced that error for years now, but i don't have experiences with the latest line of hardware. Last mobo i've installed was from the intel 81/85, intel 4xxx series.

yes, i checked it and arranged the boot priority making the USB Drive first as im using Bootable USB drive. As for your advice to the bios into legacy I didn't have to change it myself coz its already in Legacy, to be exact "Legacy+UEFI" was the one that is already selected. Did i miss something?

the Windows 7 Ultimate x64 .iso i downloaded was from Daz's post.

What processor are you using ?
Windows 7 won't work if it's Intel Skylake without adding extra drivers to the install media.
