Hi team and members, I've been using the Daz Windows Loader, and early this year updated my W7 machine to W10 1909. However, now I try to update my 1909 build , and get error messages when I try to update build 2004 or 20H2. Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 (4) 0x80242016 Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004 (6) 0x800704c7 .. and I tried updating to 20H2 and got the following error message: 0x80004005 Edit: regarding the 20H2 attempt: I manually started the "Download and Install" in Settings. It downloaded 100%, was ready for reboot. Then I reboot my machine, seemed it installed the update. After login and checking at Update, I had the message it couldn't install the update. I've tried to find answers in the posts on the forum. Any help or suggestion would be more then welcome!
Download Windows 10 ISO and put ISO on Desktop. Remove non-microsoft antivir software and kill not necessary tasks with Windows taskmanager. Use windows 10 inplace upgrade: - Mount iso with double click and klick on setup.exe - choose keep installed programs and settings - or do a fresh install and keep nothing.
No, it doesn't work on windows 10, it only enables people to get a free hwid when upgrading a daz loader activated win 7 to 10. That is not needed anymore since a MDL member invented hwid on the fly generation for 10.
As some people may or may not be fully aware yet is the Daz Loader injected a SLIC (System Licensed Internal Code) into the system before Windows boots and by doing that tricked Windows 7 that was installed to think that it was genuine. To put this more simplified: Windows is tricked into believing it is running on an OEM computer with a license tied to the motherboard. This doesn`t apply to Windows 10 Activation because it doesn`t use SLIC tables but if a machine that was using Windows 7 activated by the Daz Loader was then upgraded to windows 10 then Windows 10 would be Digitally Activated and would longer need the Daz Loader to remain activated! and should then be removed.
Thanks all, and @Enthousiast and @Excalibur0076, for your help. I'm trying to understand it all. @Excalibur0076 , what you say is correct, but I'm not sure though I fully understand your last scentence: ".... then Windows 10 would be Digitally Activated and would longer need the Daz Loader to remain activated! and should then be removed." Are you saying I can / should remove Daz loader now since I'm running on W10 and it was acivated with the upgrade from W7 to W10? So what should I best do based on the information you both provided? Are you saying the Daz loader doesn't work anymore on W10, and that I need to remove the Daz loader and replace that with the other loader mentioned by @Enthousiast ( either with KMS_VL_ALL or HWID from Github by a MDL member )? Or is my system activated anyway now, and can I leave it as is (with Daz Loader) and just manual upgrade to build 2004 or 20H2. Thanks so far!
The upgrade process already got rid of DAZ Loader. After the upgrade your system should be activated by a digital license aka HWID.
Thanks a ton for your help Enthousiast. So, my W10 system is activated by a digital license (HWID). As mentioned in the 1st post I try to update my W10 1909 build to build 2004 or 20H2 and get error messages. If I understand I basically have two options , right? : 1) - follow the suggestion of Leif Targo (get the 20H2 build iso and manually update). This should work since my system is digitally activated. 2) - You @Enthousiast seem to prefer / suggest a fresh install. Will I have to re-activate that fresh install then? Or is the current key then still active? Do you mean by that to use the Github massgravel activation method? Or would you suggest using KMS_VL_ALL?
The already existing HWID will be picked up by any new install of home or pro (considering you established it from upgrading a daz loader activated 7 install) on this hardware. Whatever you prefer to use for activation, but for the subject of this thread it's not needed as the hwid is already available.
After activation by HWID, if one's hardware changes and one does not have a Microsoft Account, would any subsequent activation require wiping the harddrive clean and doing a fresh install?
No need to re-install for re-activation, personally i would always re-install when i replaced the mainboard but it's not really necessary. For a new HWID you can google for massgravel on github or use KMS_VL_ALL for a KMS activation.
hmm I can tell you that here we use the tools exclusively made here at MDL and we never use third party tools so ...
