Hi, my friends desktop computer I upgraded to windows 10 pro from daz activated windows 7, I had to change the motherboard and replaced it with the exact one, now it needs activation. Just tried support but they told me to get the oem 7 product key from store i bought the computer from because installation id I gave them did not generate a response or code. So I would like to just buy a windows 10 pro product key but the microsoft store only supports the United States so if someone can guide me to a reliable source to purchase from, I would be very grateful. Thank you for all your help.
Hi Enthousiast, thanks for your reply. I was trying not to go that way. I would just buy a key in case this happened again. If someone can give me a reliable source to purchase from or if anyone here can sell me one I would be very very grateful, I trust this site and it's community. Also I have a valid windows 7 home premium key from an old laptop but the windows 10 installed is pro can I easily downgrade to windows 10 home?
This won't happen again, unless you change motherboard and/or cpu. Take advantage Microsoft is giving away Windows 10 for a limited time! Follow Enthousiast's advice.
Afaik 7 oem:slp keys cannot be used for activating 10 without doing the upgrade thingy, so you could simply do the daz windows upgrade > 10 (you can do it for both, home or pro, if you want).
Installing Win 7 on a different hard drive on the new motherboard and activating with DAZ then extracting Genuine Ticket and finally using it on the original install should do what the OP wants.
Thank you Gharlane00, I will try your suggestion before going with Enthousiast's "win 7 with daz > 10 upgrade". Oh I presume the method for the "Genuine Ticket and finally using it on the original install" is outlined in the sticky How to upgrade from W7/8.1 without going through the complete upgrade process. Thanks again. This site have saved me many times before.
in his original post he stated that it was not allowing him to purchase a key because he was not in the US. just parroting him. no idea if it is true.
totally missed the last part of his post lmao, but odd if so. Newegg.com/Amazon.com then or like it was said, any store like Walmart, Officedepot/Officemax etc type store would have.
The problem is if something happens to break the Digital Entitlement, MS can tell it was not valid and won't give you the code to re-activate. That to me means that at some point they could put code in an update that detects an invalid upgrade path and deactivates you. It's not a big deal if it happens to you since you can fix it but not so great when your Mom calls all freaked out that she is going to get arrested for being a pirate.
You could try softicle.com. I haven't bought anything from there, but it appears legit as far as I can tell.
