I'm trying to refresh/reset my mom's PC, she has 2 accounts on it, a normal one and an admin one. The normal one logs in, but when I go to settings > Refresh the PC (to basically clean the HD) it keeps asking for an admin password. I think it's Windows 10 home. What can be done? If I put Windows on a bootable USB and try an install of LTSC for example, will it give me an issue? Or should I try to somehow remove it from the current system now, if it's even possible?
Although you can reset the admin pw easily using various tools, but if you are planning to do a clean install from boot this should not cause any problems, make sure you format or delete existing partitions and re-partition the system drive (no actual need to do this for storage drives/partitions). And always backup as much as you can before you start
What does this actually have to with resetting the password for the admin which can be easily done by Winternals erd commander now called DaRT option locksmith?
I believe there is a link floating around in the forum regarding the "DaRT 10" iso.. This is the official MS way of getting in and resetting Admin account if unknown.. no brute force needed..
