Need to use correct product keys for RC

    Although many of us downloaded and activated the RC 7100 "before" it was available, using the existing beta keys, I just discovered something.

    There are a couple of IE8 updates available (KB969497 and KB970858) that will not show up if you activated using a beta key. Solution: change product key to one of the RC keys and reactivate.

    wow I activated using the key I obtained for beta and it showed those updates for me.... guess I must be special.

    My beta keys works fine with updates (including ie too).

    me too - all is well - used the same key for every build.

    im using RC1 7100 professional with orbit30's activate all editions and i got all updates including the new ie8 rc1 updates too!!:):)

    I'm still using the only unique key I got for the beta before the servers went down and I just installed those updates. From the other replies to this thread it seems like a very uncommon problem. :)

    Strange indeed.

    All I know is what happened to me. Running build 7100, activated with beta key, no updates available. Changed it to RC key, there they were.

    If it's working for you, well then "never mind" :)

    The keys I was given by Microsoft for the beta are the same keys they reference for me now for the RC (Technet).

    the keys are the same for beta and RC. There might be a few more for the RC but the system accepts beta and RC keys.
