Hello everyone, I downloaded Win 7 professional 64bit with Sp1 from MDl, from the sticky thread in this subforum, then made a bootable usb with this ISO using Rufus tool. I installed it on an old Intel Core 2 Duo computer for my parents to use, but even before i have done any updates to Windows, it told me the copy is not genuine and i have 3 days to activate it ( tho it might have downloaded something immediately in the background as im on a home network and internet is active as soon as windows boots up). My First question is : Why is it telling me i only have 3 days to activate, because when ever i used to install windows 7 ( any version ) it gave me 30 days before having to activate ? It also tells me in a popup message that in order to activate i must have a MAK or retali something or other. My other question is : which method, application, activation tool to use in order to activate this copy of windows ( Professional SP1 64 bit ) either permanently or for at least 6-12 months. Im a noob when it comes to this activating stuff, so im quite confused as to which tool to use and how. Im desperate for help and would be very greatful to anyone who could tell me exactly what what and how to do this. Thanks in advance.
What about kms ? Should i not rather use kms because its Professional version as opposed to Ultimate or Home ?
You are far better of using loader with professional rather that having to activate every 180 days if using KMS method.
Ok thanks, ill try with daz loader as previously suggested, just hoping it will still work as ive read that some people are having problems where it stops working ( and windows suddenly becomes not regged ).
Normally they've tried other activation methods before they've used the loader or they'll disable required services. One other thing that can cause activation to be lost is if the systems not shutdown correctly and you allow Windows to run startup repair. To disable startup repair open command prompt as an administrator and enter: Code: bcdedit /set {default} bootstatuspolicy ignoreallfailures
My god Daz that is a valuable lesson! I ran the "repair" on friends win7 several weeks ago & recently get the call "I'm not genuine" anymore, could NOT finner it out......til now
It happens because Windows will write a new boot sector, even though it doesn't need to. A reinstall of the loader fixes it, although sometimes you'll also need to revalidate online too. If or when I release an update to support Server 2012 R2 I should probably mention it in the read me file, although very few people bother to read it anyway.
