I use to be to see both my computers listed when i clicked on network (old network neighborhood) desktop icon, then just the computer I was typing from and now i dont see either.

    Thx

If you'd share the content correctly then all should be work! So, what is your problem?

When I try to access a directory on my other Desktop PC i cant access it. This is what I did to set up a share on the folder to share it, I right clicked on the folder, selected properties, select sharing tab, select advanced share, put a check mark in share and click apply.

Then when I go to my Laptop and try to access it, i cant see my desktop when i click on network icon. So it is not working properly.

Have you checked to see if share is enabled on both pc's?, mine disables itself sometimes.

If you want to share without usernames/passwords, you need to enable the Guest account. Only enable that account if you really know what you're doing.

Also check the IP address on Static or DHCP, Also, make sure use same Login account as with password to able share and see. Also, Make sure the Network Drivers are up to dated..Good luck
