Trying it right now on my Windows 7 Home Premium virtual machine....will post back results when I'm done.
hi Palladin, well I also started one thread about this 11 seconds after you!! , then now I' m confused about but with respect this software I also yet don' t understand clear I think that need wait more time to verify anyway
Works on Windows 8.1 Enterprise, which can't even get Windows 10. (see attachments for picture) I'm waiting for my Win7 VM to install. Completely forgot I haven't had it installed for a while, I only have XP for older games (*cough* Elder Scrolls 1 and 2 *cough*) and Vista for reasons even I've forgotten. Delete or not? haha. Anyway, I'll post back results soon.
It would be good if someone who has tried both "Never 10" and "GWX Control Panel" could write a quick comparison. eg. Is Never 10 offering a different approach ? .... more functions ?
The OP by Palladin ( above ) made me think that there wasn't much to read there And now , after reading it , I stand by my post ..... a comparison would be most useful !
It occurs to me that if MS had originally stated that Windows 10 would only be available on new PCs with newer processors, these same people would be up in arms demanding that someone find a way for them to shoehorn it onto their old machines.
Could I ask your reasons please ? Do you think Never 10 does it better ? I'm not looking for an argument here , I'd just like to hear different views on these two
I got the same results and I'm running Win-7 Enterprise. It seems to contradict what he says in the docs: The first thing Never10 does upon starting is verify that it's running on a non-Enterprise edition of either Windows 7, 8, or 8.1. Those are the only versions of Windows that qualify for automatic upgrading through the Windows Update facility. Kinda makes you go hmmm .
@Palladin , @mods I agree . It might make things easier for everyone following the Never 10 topic from the telemetry angle .
Most simple solution to remove nag screens I have used is this reg hack, I have not seen any windows 10 nag screens on 7 or 8 since the release of Windows 10, don't have to worry about removing any windows updates and is never undone. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GWX] "DisableGWX"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate] "DisableOSUpgrade"=dword:00000001 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\OSUpgrade] "AllowOSUpgrade"=dword:00000000 "ReservationsAllowed"=dword:00000000
It's too aggressive, and the monitor mode is just like gwx monitoring i have not use Never10, but it seems to do the job with efficient simplicity
People put so much work into this, while staying away from one single update (KB3035583) still keeps your system 100% free of any windows 10 offerings and nags. There is zero need for any 3rd party programs as of today.
@Mutoid, Personally WIN 10 is ok.. Honestly I use Windows 7 and I am happy with it.. Main reason having windows 10 those people don't want to do hard way, like simple.. Well, Most of Business are still using Windows 7!! 95% of the time, and 5% are Windows 10 I seen in business place and too soon because of lacking lockup if hug BUGS and other s**t download 1 to 4GB files. Come on! some people has slow Internet.. So, I hate see Microsoft put up this crap New OS Malware logos on Windows 7 and 8.xx it may drive people damn crazy every-time the Microsoft add updates on Windows 7 and 8.xx seem pushing.. Boy MS wants $$$ out of your pocket fast!
