new member needs help with hp mediasmart server ex490

    hi all im new to all this and im after some help with my hp mediasmart server ex490
    i got this off a local site with out any hard drives i put 4 1 tb hard drives into it but it keeps failing is there any way i can do it via usb thanks for any help given

    First things first,welcome!

    What operating system? and does your bios provide an option to boot from USB?

    the operating system will limit the hard drive size.

    hi its windows home server i just got hold of a Debug Board so i can plug screen and keyboard into it couldnt say if it gives me the option of usb i have looked around and people seem to think it does

    the 4 1tb drives will have to be set up to overcome HD size limitation

    Sorry I misspoke I was looking at the OS options for unit and thinking about xp and server 2003. USB should work with whs. Is it whs 2011?

    can i make a boot usb from the cds i got with the hp server

    Maybe easier to download .. What WHS version? Is it WHS 2011?
