    Hi all,

I was running activated with an OEM SLIC modified BIOS and the asus cert file to activate it, but my motherboard died so I replaced it with the same model, flashed it with the same SLIC edited bios, verified its presence with Everest, but now it says I have 15 days to activate. Is there a method or any series of commands I need to do to tell it to reactivate. I'm hoping to not have to reinstall vista and all my programs.

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.

Ya I already tried those steps, first thing I did actually. Well at the end of all that I did the slmgr -ato command to which windows returned an error "failed to activate" etc.

I suppose I could try those two steps without the -ato command at the end but I doubt it would make the difference. There must be something with the other motherboard that get's written to vista that's unique to that board and not just the bios, as I used the same bios flash for both the old and new mobo.

    Turn off UAC

    slmgr -rilc
    slmgr -rearm then reboot machine
    slmgr -ilc C:\asus.xrm-ms
    slmgr -ipk key

Wait for response after applying each command. -ato command is NOT used at SLP2.0 activation steps!!!

Ya that didn't work, I tried changing my MAC address of the new NIC but that didn't work either, I think that's what ties my old mobo to the license, I will likely have to reinstall.

I ended up reinstalling from scratch, it worked and I'm activated now.

    Thanks for the suggestions though.
