I like this app. The difference from what is on the video demonstration is the smart feature which is not in the one uploaded online. I am loving this new Paint already!
I hadn't thought anybody was using that primitive tool when there's far more capable freeware available. But maybe now with the 3D, it may just become usable for that particular purpose, though I doubt about its usability for anything else.
Sooner or later they will replace the notepad (which is practically unchanged since win3.xx) with something more... simplified
I understand your sarcasm. But, I don't think it has anything do to stop people from using Photoshop. That is not even the intention of Microsoft by revamping the old Paint tool. It is more of a robust version of the Microsoft Paint we all come to love and used to.
No one loves Paint today. It was a marvel in '93 or so, but surely not today. But after 20 years or so I would expect something better as replacement, not something worse. Obviously Photoshop was named as a joke, but something like paint.net could be bundled w/o hurting the MS finances.
I do love Paint and I use it extensively on resizing and editing profile images, etc. Twenty years ago is a long time and it has possibly changed a lot since then. On the contrary to your replacement insinuation I disagree to say the new Paint is just exceptional in its tools(from 3D to touch features), most especially, for those using digital pen and I cannot over-emphasized the benefits they would get from it - that includes those who have Surface Tab or Book. I have tried it on touch and it worked pretty well. However, this is going to be a better replacement for the old Paint in Windows 10.
Instead of bothering with old paint, they should have added a few more editing functions to the new Photos app, like resizing and converting to other formats. It would then double its usability.
