I'm gonna be building a new PC soon-ish, and these are the parts I plan on using: MSI Gaming Z170A GAMING M5 LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini, ZT-P10600A-10L, 6GB GDDR5 Super Compact EVGA 600 B1 100-B1-0600-KR 80+ BRONZE 600W Includes FREE Power On Self Tester Power Supply Intel Core i5-6500 6M Skylake Quad-Core 3.2 GHz LGA 1151 65W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 530 SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB SATA III 3-D Vertical Internal Solid State Drive Corsair Carbide Series 200R Black Steel / Plastic compact ATX Mid Tower Case I already have compatible DDR4 RAM, a Windows 10 licence, and a hard drive. Any suggestions for changing? Keep in mind I am on a budget, preferably less than $300 for a part. Thanks in advance!
When I built my machine, I also used an ATX MoBo. I purchased an ASUS P8Z77 V-PRO. Difference is, I have an Intel Core I7, 3770K unlocked). It's an LGA1155 socket. I also have 32GB of PC2400 RAM. I could probably get faster RAM, but as things stand, the system cruises at about 3.9 GHZ. I have a Seasonic Platinum fanless supply (525W). The thing is so quiet, All I hear is the stock Intel cooler spinning. In retrospect, I should have got a higher rated Seasonic, but I wasn't sure how well it worked. I know for next time. My suggestion to you is to get a bigger SSD. You'll grow out of that one pretty quick.
but i would hold off as some newer tech ssd's coming with much bigger space and speed.. not sure of price or dates.. but they are coming. i got me a samsung 850 evo 500gb and working good so far 3 months
I have that same board and you can get a NVMe Express drive, the Samsung 950 Pro M.2 is best for that. Expect phenomenal performance over a sata SSD you can get a 500 gb for just over $300 or a 250 gb for under $200. you can get the "K" cpu for around $20. more and that board will easily o/c that cpu to 4.6 ghz or better depending on your cooler type/brand
@LatinMcG: What you say makes sense. If the OP buys the SSD mentioned above, if and when he upgrades the SSD, he can use that drive as a storage drive. Just put it in a USB or SATA enclosure and you have 250 gb of backup.
