I just bought a new laptop with windows 7 installed. I would like to install Linux on the laptop, and install the copy of windows 7 on my desktop.

From what I've been reading, the laptop should be shipped with an OEM SLP key, which is different from the key on the sticker on the bottom of the machine. Is this correct?

Will I be able to use the key on the sticker to install windows 7 on my desktop machine? Does it matter if I've already powered up the laptop? (I haven't yet, but I might just to make sure it works)

    Thanks.

Use SLIC DUMP ToolKit 2.3 Final to make a backup of product key and certificate
