Hi, I am now the virtualization technology and barely used it before. I've found many options like VirtualBox, VMWare, and Hyper-V. I do not know if there are others or not. For the long run and I know that I will use a lot from now on, which technology should I invest time in learning it? In other words, which one has more support and add-on tools and keeps getting updates .....etc I am a Windows user. Please advise.
vmware is best and next virtualbox. vmware going to be free and virtualbox is already free. test both. hyper-v didn't have much features.
This is my computer Spoiler: PC Edition Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC Version 21H2 OS build 19044.4529 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19058.1000.0 Device name hp-pavilion-g6 Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz 2.20 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable) System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch Pen support Which version of VMWare is best fit these configurations, I mean to have smooth performance and not slow?

Try latest vmware always. Different versions have different bugs and it is hard to tell you which is good. Vmware is fastest virtual machine of all. Few years ago virtual box used to be good but now it is just a crap. But you can try it ofcourse. Nobody talk about hyper-v after using these 2 i guess.
first time to knew about it. Thanks! Is it free or paid? Because I see the title states that it is an open source.
Proxmox is getting a big following in the home environment and slowly being acceptable in business too.
Might want jack more ram is biggest key.. If I want to run Virtual Server, then I will use LGA 2011 (has more than 28 cores) and ecc ram like 64gb or 128GB.. Of course mass hard drive is the key.. 4TB RAID SSD (or bigger) will help and 2 HDD Raid as for Library files to shared folder use store data.. ATGPUD2003
Hi, You need to learn virtualization. Basics are the same in any tool that you are using. Tool doesn't matter much here. Since it is selected based on your project requirements and available resources. Microsoft Hyper-V is really good for what it offers within Consumer edition Windows. But anything other than that, it would completely depend on the project. Like for example, Home Server for storage and backup? One use TrueNAS Scale or use Proxmox then virtualize the TrueNAS deployment if your hardware is such powerful to do so. For enterprise use case? Select as per the project requirements. Nothing is perfect here since every tool has their positives and negatives. Get yourself an old desktop and start playing with all the tools to get a firsthand experience. Thanks.
