so am I to understand that windows 7 currently does not get any updates through windows update? Will they only be available after official launch and all currently known bugs must be endured until then?

also, what do these updates do? are there descriptions included?

These updates will eventually make to Windows Update (GDR updates)
They update some important things like kernel, explorer etc.
They also update the internal version build to 205xx

They come from MS-insiders or OEM-insider leaks.
Have throughly tested them for any Virus/worms etc. and I consider them same (also - signed by MS).
My rig is fully stable with them installed.
No noticable speed-ups but one of the proggies I have had trouble earlier (wouldn't start erroring with a sound card not found message - Audition v.3.1) has started to work again (as it was working back in the pre-RC builds).

I'm only installing these when they come through Windows Update.
At that time, I'll know I really need them.

Do what you want...why advertise it? If you don't want to download the updates, then don't click on the thread. :p
Some people do want to download them however, that is why the thread exists... ;)

I just don't get the point of installing potencially unsafe updates, not confirmed by Microsoft, that might not be needed. Just that.

Some people just feel the need to interject something into every thread. I'm fine with grabbing these updates too.

They are *Digitally Signed* by Microsoft. How much more proof do you need that they are legit...? Troll somewhere else please. ;)

If you don't get the point, then don't waste our bandwidth and forum space posting needless comments. That's fine if you have an opinion, but nobody asked you for it. Sorry, I don't mean any disrespect, just trying to be blunt. If you have useful information to share, then by all means, share...just don't troll for no reason. Thanks. :)
