Wow, isn't prone to hyperbole much is he?

It simply can't be better in regards to driver support can it? Seeing as how I can't even get a modern gpu like a Radeon HD 5470m to work and play well with dxva. Or thermal management in my laptop to stop ramping the fans up and down with annoying regularity.

Can we just say Win8 boots fast, is responsive and has decent compatibility considering the UI changes and leave it at that.

The RTM isn't even out, and I'm guessing you aren't playing with build 8518 and neither am I, and most manufacturers are pretty tight about releasing officially compatible drivers until after RTM. One exception is graphics card companies, but even then they tend to either drop support for "old" GPUs when a new Windows is released. The 5470 is not very old, but it and my desktop's 4850 are pretty darn old relatively speaking. Mine was released before Windows 7 went RTM, and yours sometime shortly after; that'll be almost three years old by the time Windows 8 goes GA.

Anyway, not trying to make you feel bad for your comment. It shocked me, too, when he added that to the article. Really wasn't necessary, but he could truly believe it since who knows what drivers or hardware he's working with, not to mention a near-RTM Windows 8.

On my Lenovo T400 with ATI Radeon HD 3400 discrete graphics, it plays very well with Lenovo's official Windows 7 graphics driver under W8 RP, which Lenovo seems to update quite often and I'm sure they'll release Windows 8 drivers for my laptop after RTM; I know they have beta ones available for some laptop models.

FFS, will you guys ever stop spamming almost every damn thread you post in with off-topic posts?
I've got you filtered by my ignore list so I usually just scroll past them, but your bumping threads with useless crap is still annoying.

I realize the irony of making this off-topic post, but I just had to point that out.
Some people are trying to have serious discussions here, and you're discouraging that by turning threads into a mess of useless posts.

With the release preview you could modify it so it looked like Windows 7 (even better in some ways). Microsoft had a hissy fit over this and supposedly you aren't able to do it anymore. I guess only time will tell whether this is correct or not. I hope that it isn't, because the Metro GUI is crap for desktop use.

need to adjust a little bit: RTM escrow was until build 8500.0.win8_rtm.120623-2000 (RTM Escrow). There were many RTM candidates after this point until 8518.0.win8_rtm.120717-1813 (RTM Candidate) Source: winunleaked

If Gold Code isn't reached, escrow hasn't begun.
Depends on how you define escrow...
My definition of escrow : period between gold code and milestone
Your definition of escrow : periood between feature freeze and milestone
    Feature freeze was 8500.
    Source : me.

If m$ haven't removed the multiple popup confirmations of me wanting to move/copy files or close apps or shutdown or anything they might consider me as an "idiot" and need to double, double double check then I really don't care.

oops I nearly forgot the "Not responding" too.

If the application bugs... The "not responding" is quite necessary.

    Well, let's correct that sentence.
If the application isn't well developed therefore bugs... The "not responding" is quite necessary.
