Those numbers are provided to allow you to verify that the software you just downloaded is error free (uncorrupted). You can download hash utilities which will compare the given code with a hash made from the newly downloaded piece of software to tell you whether there are any problems with the download. Just do a search using the terms "hash" and "utility".
