Newbie question about upgrade

    Hello,

    I pre-ordered a Windows 7 upgrade for one of my laptops. It currently has a *legal* Vista OEM install on 1 partition and the Windows 7 retail on another.

    My question is, is there any way to upgrade my 7 to a legal version when it ships without having to clean install my current 7? If not possible out of the box, maybe using some ISO hackery?

    The serial should work, assuming that you've installed the same version that you pre-ordered.

    So when I enter the serial it checks my hard drive for an existing Vista install? Or else it'd seem pretty useless to buy a regular version if upgrade costs less :/

    Normally it asks for your Vista DVD when you're installing it.
