This is the second night I find myself re-reading stickies over and over for activating Vista Home edition on my friends laptop. It certainly seems a more involved prosess than using OEMBIOS installer/changer for XP(OEMBIOS was readily availible and BIOS didnt need tattooing) I'll start by posting the first hurdle I've run into: Availible in the big Lenovo bioses thread are two download links available for my x61 7nuj20us-7NETC0WW & 7suj17us-7SET37WW Resulting filenames 7nuj20us_TC-5M_SLIC21.zip & 7suj17us_TP-7V_SLIC21.zip respectively. I recognize the 7suj17us parts as the filename of the latest official bios download from Lenovo. How do I make sure that any of these two match my x61?
I'm refering to the "LENOVO BIOS COLLECTION" post. I got the first step covered "First, find your CORRECT bios" I'm stuck at the second step "Then, match it".
Nevermind, Found out my x61 is a 7NETC0WW. Off by one number to 7NETC0WW that's available. I guess I'm off to try andyp's pheonix slic tool.
