I went to HP site and I can't find bios for HP Pavilion a6414f. I'm looking to mod to slic2.1. where can i find the bios since hp site doesn't have the bios download.
Just been googling your machine as it seems a bit odd that HP has no bios updates. Look at the motherboard of your HP Pavillion. Google seems to think it is an Asus M2N68-LA. If thats the case you might be able to get a bios from ASUS. Make sure you look at the motherboard to ensure it is an ASUS motherboard. Thats the best i can do at the moment Kind Regards bp1
Universal bios backup toolkit had successfully backup my bios. then I used Awardtool1.47 to mod 511.ROM to slic2.1 successfully. what tool do i use to flash this bios? thx
HP website does not have bios update for Pavilion a6414f so i'm using a Universal bios backup toolkit to make backup bios and then mod to slic2.1, and then flash the bios. When i did a backup of Pavilion a6414f existing bios, it said Phoenix Technologies,LTD-5.11.ROM. The phoenixTool is not for this bios. so i use AwardTool to mod, and it works. My question is, what tool i use to flash the bios? do i use phlash16700, winflash.exe, or Awdflash v8.94? do i need to change from 511.rom to 511.bin? please help thx
use awdflash here is the reame file Awdflash Instructions: 1. Run the flash utility from the command line by typing in its name. Example: A:\>AWDFLASH <hit enter> 2. The flash utility should be started now. It will ask you the file you want to write. Type in your BIOS update name exactly as it is. Example: Filename to Flash: BIOSUPDATENAME.BIN <hit enter> 3. It will now ask you if you want to back up your current BIOS. Say "Y" for yes and name it something like OLD.BIN. 4. After saving the BIOS it will confirm if you want to continue with the overwrite. Type "Y" for yes and it will begin the write process. 5. DO NOT REMOVE THE FLOPPY DISK, TURN OFF THE COMPUTER OR RESTART THE COMPUTER WHEN THE WRITE BEGINS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. You will hose your ROM chip. 6. After it is done it will tell you it was succesful and you can restart. After restarting, go into your BIOS and set everything to BIOS defaults or Optimized defaults, save and reboot (You could also just reset your CMOS jumper...that is the most recommended method. Just unplug the power source and set the CMOS jumper to the clear position. It should be in your manual as to where this jumper is and what position it should be in to short it). After #6 reboot you can go into your BIOS and set your BIOS settings however you want and you're all done. Alternate Instructions: Type: awdflash xxx.bin /cc/cd/cp/py/R The “xxx” should be replaced with the filename of the BIOS bin file. /cc = clear CMOS after Programming /cd = clear DMI after Programming /cp = clear PNP(ESCD) after Programming /py = Program Flash Memory /R = Reset System after Programming After it restarts, go back into the BIOS, load the optimized defaults, save and exit. Then after it restarts, you can go back into the BIOS and configure it how you like. Using all those switches / parameters ensures a “clean” BIOS u
@ Nick@Number11 So that mean i need to rename from 511.rom to 511.bin in order to flash with Awdflash?
