Forget blogs and articles, the proof is here in things like peerblock and other traffic sniffing programs
Ed Bott? The guy had a condescending attitude towards people who didn't like Windows 8, I don't think I want to read his crap.
Yes, NO MS didn't steal (take, grab) your data; literally They just simply 'collecting' and 'diagnosting' with their telemetry, diagtrack, loggers Some kind of what website you visit, anything what your type on your keyboard, and take a little peek on whats inside your hardrive (p0rns, illegal softs, cracked games, etc) No, they didn't steal anything... All they wanted is just be with you at all time happyly everafter
They do trust me. Somehow, soomeehow, Soooommeeehooow, Microsoft found out about my 500GB porn stash. Now my msn.com homepage only displays news about porn actors/actress, upcoming porn movies, and only news from all the porn sites on the internet. /Ifeelbusted
You are saying goodbye to your privacy the moment you connect to the Internet. With Windows 10 most people are realizing it just now.
Simple fact is, that, what always is named Spying, MS has done since years already! Now, while Windows 10 is a more clean OS as other OS'es from MS in the past, people have less to complain and that's exactly what they are looking for: FOR ANYTHING WHICH COULD TAKEN TO COMPLAIN!! And why that also is happen now: Because Microsoft is openly talking about and even warned the user of this OS about it, for the first time they ever did before the launch of the OS!
"We also use services from other companies to help us determine a location based on your IP address in order to customize certain services to your location" People want their devices to automatically know where they are, give them instant and relevant weather, maps, shopping information. For the most part MS, Google, Apple are responding to consumer demands. Problem is none of them offer an option to opt out of the nonsense. I may want certain apps to access selected information but I do not want the OS to gather that information, then share it with apps on my device or servers that my devices connect to. There is a huge opportunity to lose or leak information intentionally or unintentionally. I highly doubt that MS wants to know all of my secrets, not that I really have any, but the avenue is there for people to misuse because of consumer demand for instant gratification.
Ed Bot is gullible if he thinks those that torrent are using windows 10. I know that if I were to torrent illegally, I'd be using linux and not letting my real ip out (probably because they are not using 10?)
For many years, organizations like Google have been collecting demographic data and shopping habits so that they may do targeted advertising. Microsoft and Apple have been also receiving telemetry from Windows 7 and Windows 8 machines. The main difference is that, in Windows 7 and possibly Windows 8, you could turn this telemetry off. And You could clean your browser cache and get rid of tracking cookies. So what changed? Why is Windows 10 Home edition so different? What are people seeing that's spooking them?
