In spite of successful installation the Nvidia "181.20_geforce_winvista_64bit_international_whql" driver, shown in the details tab of device manager the driver tab displays always the old version 7.15.11.6369.
    Should it not show 7.15.11.8120?
From where reads windows device manager its information?
In the registry I found entries with the old number and replaced it, but device manager continues with the old version number.
    Any ideas?

    Reinstall

Via control panel uninstall (not disable) the current driver. Reboot and Vista will install a generic (or older Nvidia) VGA driver. Then via control panel elect to update the driver but do not let Vista find it. Rather, point the installer to the directory where you saved 7.15 . . . and it should install it.

    Works!

The uninstall via control panel and re-install was the right way
    Thanks

    Thanks

Thanks for the feedback Peter; I always appreciate knowing if "fixes" effected the anticipated result.
