For BIOS Slic activation wich one do you think its needed OEM or Retail i acidentaly downloaded and installed N version and now cant find coresponding key?
I believe we already told you to reinstall a regular version of Win 7 Ultimate. M$ droped support for the N version.
Either one does not matter they can both be activated using the OEM method. But if you keep that N version good luck finding a key for it.
No only OEM verison can be used with SLIC 2.1 if you have a retail verison you'll have to change it to a OEM
That's not true, I have a retail image that I'm using with an SLP key. OEM vs retail does not matter, they both are capable of reading an SLIC table.
yer mite be retail but your ei.cfg mite be deleted or change in your iso, so does not matter if its a retail like shown below SLIC will not work, both can mite be able to read the table but only a oem will activate when using it. in your ISO image, check the file source/ei.cfg RETAIL: Quote: [EditionID] Ultimate [Channel] Retail [VL] 0 OEM: Quote: [EditionID] Ultimate [Channel] OEM [VL] 0
Luke, it does not matter what the ei.cfg says. They can both be activated using the OEM method. You don't have to modify it at all.
all versions are pretty much the same, some have the ei.cfg some do not. Once you install a cert and OEM key your version channel changes anyway.
With regards to images there is no such thing as OEM and Retail versions. And the same goes for editions (Ultimate, HomePremium, etc.) as well. Because the only difference between all the available images is the text in the ei.cfg, which says either Retail or OEM and specifies the edition that is to be installed when setup is run. The VL parameter is always 0 since these editions are not to be activated via a Volume License. In other words when you remove the ei.cfg from a so called 'Retail Ultimate' image and a so called 'OEM HomePremium' image youll have the exact same thing as the actual content of the images is 100% identical in all cases. It is the ei.cfg that specifies what edition is to be installed, (which is why you remove it to be able to choose an edition yourself), and it is the ProductKey you enter that ultimately turns your installation into a Retail or OEM version.
