Tried flashing the bios, it appears to have done it successfully. But now wireless doesn't work, detects hardware but it just doesn't pick up any networks. And now after a reboot to check the bios settings, windows 7 doesn't boot at all. Stuck "starting windows" same for Windows 10 USB stick.

Update - I pulled out an old windows 10 hard drive I used to use in this laptop before i swapped to an SSD, it seems to boot fine, but my lord does it feel slow lol

I'll try again tomorrow. There doesn't appear to be any obvious settings for the hard drive that indicate ide/accident settings. I will test tomorrow morning and let you know

To install 7 in the first place I had to do it from a working pc the USB ports didn't work at all on the laptop and I couldn't get the drivers to work from the USB drive itself during the setup. I will probably just reinstall the ssd and use windows 10... It is legitimate after all.

you need to use the intel usb3 creator tool to make usb win7 with usb3 support... and possibly the intel RST

Lenovo systems purchased with Windows 10 don't include the SLIC info for Windows 7. You'll have to use one of the Marker tools from the SLP Marker File Update Utilities thread in the BIOS Mods section. From looking at the BIOS I think that system is Wistron ODM. Try using SLPUTIL.EXE (DOS) or SLPUtil32.EXE/SLPUtil64.EXE (Windows) to integrate the SLIC marker.
