Hi there, I am struggling with activating Office 2010 on Linux. The installation itself runs fine using Play On Linux but activation fails. I used the setup exe file Office 2010 Single Image x86 X17-75053.exe from here: heidoc.net/joomla/technology-science/microsoft/18-office-2010-direct-download-links I found a key on the web which was accepted for installation, however, activation (either web or phone) fails. I also tried to use EZ Activator but it always reports that my license is corrupt. Is there a valid key for Office 2010 out there that can be used to activate Office 2010 without any issues? If not, is there any way to unlimit the trial phase? If not, how can I finally activate Office 2010? Thank you!
I'm not familiar with Play on Linux but seems that its a front-end of Wine. Why do you prefer Office 2010 over 2013?? You have downloaded an edition which can't be activated via KMS. You have to download another edition.
Thanks for your response Tito. I very much appreciate it! I prefer 2010 over 2013 since 2013 does not seem to work well on Linux. But regarding your answer, which edition do I have to download in order to activate it? To me it is important that SP1 is already included since updating later on is not supported on Linux.
If somebody is willed to tackle this, try Or use this method: 1. Run the server exe from this release: forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/41010. 2. Using this guide: askubuntu.com/questions/277709/activate-office-2010-running-in-playonlinux-with-a-kms-server, set server address 127.0.0.1 or 127.0.0.2 3. Wait and see if Office can contact the KMS server and get activated. I gave up...
...in short; if you have a Windows machine in your home network its easy, Setup KMS so you are able to activate supported MS software on other machines in your network. ...I used to run MS Office 2007, later MS Office 2010 on Linux but ditched it in favore of OpenOffice. Now using LibreOffice.
