Office 2010 ProPlus v14.0.4763.1000 for free??

Can someone explain this crazy situation...??? I registered and downloaded the evaluation of Office 2010 at technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/ee390818.aspx

I installed it and used the (supposedly trial) serial MS emailed me to install it. After installation a dialog box popped up saying to activate it online, which I did, and .... now I have a fully functioning copy of Office 2010 ProPlus v14.0.4763.1000 ??

It says it's activated in the about menu and just to make sure it really wasn't just a trial period I also reset the clock a year ahead, rebooted ... and it still says it's fully activated??????

What is going on? Surely M$ haven't let me have this for nothing?
    What's the catch?

    Steve

Well, it's not a very strange situation. Sometime things could go wrong with MS activation server. Similar situations has been reported in an other board, some could even manage to recreate the activation. There's even a trick to keep changing office keys (all ran out of activation) and eventually, you could get activated.

Oops.. I forgot that I'd used a "retail activation" hack on the trial which seems to have turned the MSDN trial version into a full permanently activated v14.04760.1000 version!!

I can't remember where I got it from but it obviously works!!

If a copy of Office 2010 Pro Plus is activated by MS does Office ever randomly check the serial number again? Or is it happy only until a future Windows Office Update checks again?

I checked my MAK key with the same snap-in (Volume License Management Tool) and under number of Activations it says "<Not_Available>" :O
