I have 1 little question about the directives in first post. the guide says: !!! SetupConsumerC2R.exe !!! (Exact same file as SetupConsumerC2ROLW.exe, so just copy that file and rename it to SetupConsumerC2R.exe)
So why would i copy and rename that file? I simply can execute SetupConsumerC2ROLW.exe instead, right?

Btw now i am on it, step 2 and 3, seems mandatory, not? Anyway i am able install it from whatever folder i downloaded the files in...
    2) Copy all files to following directory: "%PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\OEMOffice14\OStarter\ en-us"
    3) Click "%PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\OEMOffice14\OStarter\ en-us\SetupConsumerC2R.exe" to install

I always wondered why you had to copy & rename that file too?

Don't think it serves any real advantage or purpose, & I think you could skip it.

Yeah you can install from whatever directory as long as all the files are in the same folder together otherwise it'll download all the files again temporarily to do setup, I have mine saved on a separate partition in a folder named "Microsoft Office Starter 2010" everything install fine, the guide folder names & directory are just where the files are located if you bought a new computer with Microsoft Office Starter on I think ;)

    Hi!

Office 2010 Starter ENG works fine for me, thank you for the tutorial. I'm looking for the Hungarian version. It is not listed in the languages. I tried "hu-hu" instead of "en-us" but it didn't work.

I saw that it exists on a friends new Asus laptop. Do you know how I could get it?

Take care and thanks for the answer in advance.

Hi, if your still about on here to read this, if you can access your friends computer again, try looking in this directory "%PROGRAMDATA%\Microsoft\OEMOffice14\OStarter\" it may still have the Office Starter 2010 installation files on the hard drive if your friends computer is a new OEM install, if so you could just save the files to a disc or USB etc.

I can't confirm the files will be present having not got a new OEM computer myself with Office Starter installed but it's worth a try ;)

You can just execute SetupConsumerC2ROLW.exe. You can also put it in the folder of your choice, or even burn it on a DVD.
The instructions I provided are the one provided in the Office OPK from Microsoft OEM Website.

    Geen probleem :)

    Hi!

Do you think that only simple copy will work?

I copy all the files from there on a pendrive, copy to a new machine, run, and I will get Word and Excel starter, working "forerver"??

    What about activation or serial?

Someone explain this fascination with starter? I've read through some of this thread but still don't understand why this is better than doing custom install with pro plus then activate or use rearm concept for office?

@timesurfer, if you need nothing more as Word & Excel, Starter is the way to go. Why would you install the bloated pro version that requires activation and/or rearm tricks if none of the other programs are used?
Besides that, It normally is only available to OEM's to pre-install on systems they ship, end not to end consumer.

I don't really know lol, for most people maybe I guess all they really need is Word & Excel in basic form so Starter is preferred?
I do like the fact it's already activated & installs faster than any other Office 2010 setup (for me anyway), I guess the Microsoft Office-To-Go feature may prove to be handy as well.

EDIT: FreeStyler's response pretty much sums it up for most lol ;)
