office 2016 for mac activation mechanics

    I remember for the 2011 version you could copy your activation file and use it to reload activation later after a reinstall. Does anyone know if 2016 is like that?

    Yes it's pretty much the same mechanism - /Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office.licensingV2.plist is the file (at least in the case of VL edition).
