I am far from knowledgeable on this stuff so I just want to be able to install Office 2016 from a USB stick onto a few computers and have it there as a back up. I have keys and am not looking for anything but the USB to work.

Everywhere I read that I should just be able to mount the .img file and copy the contents to my USB. Well it copies fine but when I run the set up, it brings up the start of the install screen then it disappears and nothing.

I have tried different images from different sources, different USB sticks and different computers but nothing works.

I have searched the forum and the net but found nothing on the issue.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I came up with the same during development of O2016RTool.
    Please try the following:
    - Create new subdirectory on USB-Stick (ex. "install")
    - Extract content of *.img to subdirectory "install" ( not to root \ )
    - Run setup.exe from "install"

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...
  3. Why would this work in subfolder and not in root?

Only Microsoft can answer this. I faced this situation while running Click2Run setup.exe from Office Deployment Tool.
    Starting from subfolder: OK
Starting froom root: Window opens, flashes shortly, then closes.

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...
  5. And this also applies to 2013/2010? Or is just a new feature in 2016?
