I have Office 2016 Pro Plus from MSDN. If I use the Office Deployment Tool to do a custom install (removing products I don't use) and use a local SourcePath (to point to the mounted MSDN ISO) will this cause any problems with Office updates? I ask because I read a comment stating this might be the case and I just wanted to check before I do a custom install.

Also should I use O365ProPlusRetail or ProPlusRetail in the Product ID?

Instead of manual XML configuration, try the process here:

    Code:
    h t t p://forums.mydigitallife.net/threads/65433-TUTORIAL-Use-the-C2R-installer-to-ONLY-install-the-Office-2016-APPS-YOU-WANT?p=1148509&viewfull=1#post1148509
After installation is complete, use O2016RTool to convert it to volume license and then use KMS_VL_ALL to activate.

This is what I did to custom install Office 2016 and guess what, it was a breeze.

I have a valid key for Pro Plus so no need to hacktivate it. In the end I just did a CDN based install. As I am on 800Mbps internet it downloads and installs as fast as from an ISO anyway.
